Abstract

Virtual tours of monuments become more and more a vital part of the promotion of the culture and therefore tend to be one of the main areas of study in the field of cultural heritage. These representations offer users the chance to tour in areas located far away. In order to create accurate and correct 3D representations of the monument, geometric documentation, using various methods, is essential. In this research, the geometric documentation of the Horologion (clock tower) of Andronikos Kyrrhistos is presented. Both Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and aerial photogrammetry techniques were used to create the 3D model of the monument. Apart from the architectural plans that were created, going a bit further, a virtual tour of the monument was produced, which can be used by people who cannot visit the place in person.
