Abstract

Wind action on engineering structures can cause significant consequences. Arched structures covered with textile membranes (balloon halls) are particularly vulnerable. This paper presents a study of wind action on structures with arched roofs and flat gable walls. The analysis was conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with variations in parameters that may influence structural response, for two representative wind directions: along-wind and crosswind. The selected output parameter, the pressure coefficient (Cp), is validated and compared with values provided in relevant standards. The aim of this research is to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and experience related to CFD methodology, as well as to support the development of regulatory databases concerning pressure coefficients for non-standard structural forms.
