Abstract

The paper examines the key factors shaping quality of life in contemporary apartments, in line with 21st-century needs, with a focus on the post-pandemic period. The COVID-19 pandemic altered housing patterns: during restricted mobility, the apartment took on the functions of home, work, recreation, and recovery, thereby redefining comfort criteria. The living room again becomes the central space, remote work is reinforced, and the need to exercise at home and maintain a more direct connection with nature increases. The paper considers the contemporary apartment through the concept of flexibility-its capacity to adapt to changing life scenarios, in order to better understand the relationship between housing typology, everyday practices, and residents’ well-being.
