Abstract

In this paper, the authors address the inspection of concrete structures using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scanning technology. The main idea is focused on the inspection of a concrete structure for the purpose of detecting reinforcement or objects with a circular cross-section. The analysis includes both dry and wet concrete, as well as metallic and non-metallic objects with a circular cross-section. The practical part of the study contains real radargrams covering a reinforced concrete slab and a reinforced concrete bridge column. In addition to real radargrams, synthetic radargrams simulating various scenarios were also analyzed. The obtained results demonstrate the wide applicability and potential of ground-penetrating radar scanning technology in this specific field of civil engineering.
