Intensive urbanization increases impervious cover, accelerates stormwater runoff, and aggravates flooding, water pollution, and urban heat island effects. This paper provides a critical narrative review of pervious concrete as a multifunctional material for sustainable stormwater management. The review synthesizes studies on hydraulic performance, pollutant removal, clogging, durability, maintenance, and broader environmental co-benefits of pervious concrete. The analyzed literature indicates that pervious concrete can effectively reduce runoff and improve water quality, but its performance strongly depends on mixture design, construction quality, and maintenance. The main limitations are clogging, sensitivity to freeze–thaw conditions, and insufficient long-term field data.
