Low-enthalpy subgeothermal energy represents one of the most stable and environmentally friendly renewable energy sources for heating and cooling buildings. The efficiency of these systems largely depends on the geological and hydrogeological characteristics of the soil in which the geoprobes are installed in the case of the "soil-water" system or the wells in the case of the "water-water" system. This paper analyzes the influence of the lithological composition, structural relationships and hydrogeological conditions of the Banja Luka area on the characteristics of low-enthalpy subgeothermal systems. Special attention is paid to the role of groundwater in the heat transfer process, as well as differences in the suitability of the terrain for the application of wells and geoprobes. The results of the paper indicate that alluvial sediments and zones with developed hydrogeological circulation have significantly more favorable conditions for the application of these systems compared to compact rock masses with low permeability.
