Abstract

Although both climatic factors and basin physical characteristics influence flood generation, projections of future floods predominantly emphasize climate change, while changes in land use, urbanization, and basin morphology are less systematically addressed. This paper presents a brief literature overview on the assessment of future floods at the basin scale. The analysis examines the relationship between meteorological drivers and catchment properties. The findings are discussed with reference to three comprehensive review studies to highlight key research trends and methodological gaps. Finally, conclusions are made to better integrate climatic and physical drivers in future flood estimation.
