In this paper, a brief overview of damping systems and their operation and analysisprinciples is provided, with emphasis on tuned damping systems of engineeringstructures. The results of the experimental analysis are presented for an aluminum framestructure excited with initial displacement. The measured dynamic parameters(eigenfrequencies and dumping factors) of the basic experimental model are comparedwith the numerical model values. Furthermore, the comparison of the results obtained fordifferent variants of the experimental model are shown. Responses of models with andwithout the damping device are considered. A water reservoir placed on top of thestructure is utilized as a damping device. The water level in the reservoir and orientationof the reservoir with respect to the direction of excitation force are varied. For all modelvariants, the values of the first and the second eigenfrequencies in the direction ofexcitation are shown and the corresponding damping values are estimated.
